The glory days of gold and silver mining in Ophir Canyon during the late 1800s have returned. The recently opened Ophir Historic District consists of several restored historic buildings, including homes, a post office, a train with period antiques, a shoe shop and an ore wagon.

The shoe shop and ore wagon are new additions, and a restored school will also be added to the collection. Thanks to grant money and volunteer work, the historic district now hosts visitors from around the world who come learn about the Old West mining days.

Every Saturday from mid May until mid September the buildings in the historic district are open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Other tour times for groups can be arranged in advance by calling (435) 882-4256.
